Mandy Moore's Hilarious Take on Balancing Work and Mom Life

Mandy Moore seems to have cracked the code on managing the delicate dance between her professional and personal life.

Discover Mandy Moore’s hilarious take on balancing work and motherhood, exclusive insights into her life, career, and a Disney adventure.

At 39, the actress, who juggles her career with motherhood, reveals her secret to PEOPLE in an exclusive interview. Reflecting on her role in the series "Dr. Death," she acknowledges the constant buzz in her mind but emphasizes the importance of leaving work behind.

"If I had brought This Is Us home, I might have had a mental breakdown at some point," Moore admits. Despite the demands of filming Dr. Death, she found it easy to unwind once home, prioritizing self-care.

"The kids get to bed, and then it's unadulterated mom and dad time," shares Moore, who married musician Taylor Goldsmith in 2018. With a touch of humor, she confesses, "My poor husband has a whole life after I fall asleep, like two hours of reading or watching some Criterion Collection movie without me because I'm fast asleep."

But Moore's ability to decompress goes beyond mere relaxation; it's about preparing for the next day. Utilizing her downtime, she tackles emails, plans for the morning, sets up breakfast, and ensures everything is in place for the family and pets.

Only then can she truly relax. "I can unwind, read a book, or watch 10 minutes of something before I fall asleep," she says. Despite her busy schedule, Moore finds solace in motherhood. "Sometimes I feel totally underwater, but for the most part, my two little dudes make me feel at peace."

Parenthood has also been a catalyst for personal growth. Moore believes it has made her a better advocate for herself, emphasizing the importance of setting boundaries.

"Becoming a parent helped me become a better advocate for myself," she notes. "I think I really had fallen into a pattern of just being a people pleaser and saying 'yes,' even to my own detriment when I would come to regret it."

Establishing boundaries took time, but Moore, now approaching 40, is content with her journey. "I am there now, and being a parent, I'm much better at that," she asserts.

Recently, Moore celebrated a parenting triumph when she took her oldest son to Disney. The joy of meeting Mickey Mouse became a cherished memory for both mother and child.

As Moore navigates the intricate balance of work and family, she continues to shine in her career. Currently, all eight episodes of Dr. Death Season 2 are available for streaming on Peacock.
