In a concerning development, the CDC has reported 45 hospitalizations and two fatalities due to a salmonella outbreak associated with cantaloupes and pre-cut fruit. This week alone, 56 new cases have emerged, bringing the total to 99 cases across 32 states. Both fatalities occurred within the same timeframe, prompting heightened concern. The CDC has issued a critical alert specifically targeting whole cantaloupes with stickers bearing the names "Malichita" or "Rudy." Look for the numbers "4050" and the label "Product of Mexico/produit du Mexique" on these stickers. Responding promptly, the Food and Drug Administration initiated a recall on Wednesday.
