Andy Cohen Commends Anderson Cooper's Outstanding Fatherhood: 'I'm Truly Impressed Watching You with the Kids'
During
CNN's New Year's Eve broadcast, Andy Cohen showered Anderson Cooper with
admiration as they welcomed 2024 in New York City. Cohen, co-host of Watch What
Happens Live, took a moment after expressing his hopes for the new year to
applaud Cooper's parenting skills.
Addressing
Cooper, Cohen said, "I just wanted to say, you are such a great dad.
You're such an attentive father." Cohen, a father himself to Benjamin
Allen, 4, and Lucy Eve, 1, emphasized the sincerity of his words, underlining
Cooper's presence with his two sons, Wyatt Morgan, 3, and Sebastian Luke, 1,
from his co-parenting arrangement with ex Benjamin Maisani.
Reflecting
on his resolution to spend less time on his phone, Cohen highlighted Cooper's
commitment to his children. "I really marvel watching you with the kids.
You're so present; it's really great," complimented Cohen, receiving a
smile and appreciation from Cooper.
In 2020,
Cooper welcomed his first child and subsequently announced plans for
co-parenting with Maisani, despite their 2018 separation after four years of
public dating. The duo welcomed a second son in 2022, and Cooper expressed
openness to expanding their family in a 2022 interview with PEOPLE. He
described the early years of parenting as "the best time in my life,"
expressing moments of bliss, humor, gentleness, and sheer delight.
As the duo
celebrated 2024 during the CNN New Year's Eve broadcast, they marked the
occasion with shots of alcohol. This move followed the lifting of the ban on
alcoholic beverages during the broadcast. Cooper, noting that 2024 is a leap
year with an extra day in February, excitedly declared, "What are you
gonna do with your extra day, Anderson? You know what I'm gonna do? Pour us a
shot, it's 2024!"
After
toasting to each other and the new year, Cohen playfully declared,
"Anderson, you and I are gonna stay out tonight until the sun rises."
Humoring the idea, Cooper laughed and dismissed the possibility of revealing
all their secrets, adding, "Not gonna happen."
