Angela Bassett Shines in Exquisite Crystal and Pearl Adorned Ensemble at the Critics Choice Awards

Angela Bassett exudes red-carpet sophistication at the Critics’ Choice Awards!

The seasoned actress, aged 65, radiated grace as she graced the event in a sleek black gown adorned with dazzling embellishments, where she took the stage to present the best supporting actor award on Sunday.

Bassett opted for a Pre-Fall 2023 black crepe gown featuring a plunging neckline beautifully embroidered with crystals and pearls, courtesy of Pamella Roland. Her hair was elegantly styled in loose waves.

The recent Oscar honoree maintained the glimmering theme with an embellished bracelet from Suzanne Kalan Fine Jewelry and a stunning pair of black and white diamond drop earrings by Jewels Aficionado.

Bassett, the epitome of movie-star glamour, presented Robert Downey Jr. with the award for his supporting film role in Oppenheimer during the ceremony. He triumphed over strong contenders such as Robert De Niro, Ryan Gosling, Sterling K. Brown, Charles Melton, and Mark Ruffalo.

Just last week, the acclaimed actress received her own accolade at the 14th Governors Awards, where she graciously accepted an Honorary Oscar for her outstanding contributions to film.

For this special occasion, Bassett donned a radiant ensemble, opting for a semi-sheer gold embellished fishtail gown designed by Dolce & Gabbana, complemented by Christian Louboutin heels. Her accessories included a pair of white gold diamond drop earrings and a white gold Aura diamond ring from Gismondi 1754 Jewelry.

In stark contrast to the gown she wore to receive her Oscar, Bassett's look at the Governors Awards showcased her versatility and impeccable fashion sense.

During her acceptance speech, Bassett lauded the "trailblazing" Black actresses who paved the way before her, and those who stand beside her today, including Viola Davis, Regina King, Jennifer Hudson, and Octavia Spencer. She emphasized the ongoing work needed to promote diversity within the film industry.

"I proudly share this honor with women who stand up when they are told to stand back, who speak up when they are silenced, who remain determined when they’re told they’re defeated," she expressed. "These women represent those that I’ve had the honor to portray, as well as the everyday women who surround us and inspire us to keep striving."
