Nothing Phone 2a Emerges on BIS Certification: Global Launch Expected This Week

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) website has recently showcased the upcoming Nothing Phone 2a, a budget-friendly smartphone anticipating a launch in India. Leaked details suggest an AMOLED screen and the potential use of a MediaTek Dimensity processor or a Snapdragon 7-series chipset to power the device.

Nothing, Nothing Phone (2),

Unveiling the imminent arrival of the Nothing Phone 2a, tipster Abhishek Yadav shared insights on X, formerly known as Twitter, displaying the BIS listing for a Nothing smartphone with the model number A142. This device is speculated to be the much-discussed Nothing Phone 2a.

Considering Nothing's recent release of the Nothing Phone (2) in July 2023, a swift successor seems unlikely. Following the brand's historical launch pattern, the anticipated Nothing Phone 3 might debut in July next year. This implies that the smartphone identified on the BIS, marked by the model number A142, could potentially be an economical variant of the existing Nothing Phone 2. Additionally, the tipster uncovered a Nothing battery labeled as NT03, expected to be bundled with the upcoming Nothing Phone 2a.

Adding to the intrigue, Nothing's global account on X modified its bio, teasing, "Something is coming this week." This raises the possibility of the brand unveiling the speculated smartphone on a global scale within the week.

Anticipated Features of Nothing Phone 2a

Envisioned as an affordable alternative, the Nothing Phone 2a is poised to be a streamlined version of the Nothing Phone (2). Preliminary leaks hint at a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen without an LTPO panel. The device is rumored to house either a MediaTek Dimensity processor or a Snapdragon 7-series chipset, differing from the 4 nm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC present in the Nothing Phone (2).

An earlier leak depicted the design of the Nothing Phone 2a, showcasing a transparent aesthetic and a Glyph interface. The rendering revealed a dual camera setup at the rear and a centrally aligned hole punch on the display, intended for the selfie camera.

Comparatively, the Nothing Phone (2) boasts a 50 MP Sony IMX890 primary camera coupled with a 50 MP ultrawide angle sensor. On the front, it features a 32 MP selfie camera and is equipped with a 4,700 mAh battery supporting 45 W wired charging and 5 W wireless charging.

As the launch anticipation builds, the Nothing Phone 2a promises to offer an enticing blend of affordability and innovative design, adding a new dimension to the Nothing smartphone lineup. Stay tuned for the official unveiling, expected to happen on a global scale in the coming week.
