Selena Gomez Clarifies Golden Globes Rumor About Taylor Swift and Keleigh Teller Conversation

In a bid to put an end to the swirling Golden Globes rumor mill, Selena Gomez has addressed the viral moment that captured her in an animated discussion with friends Taylor Swift and Keleigh Teller. Speculation had quickly spread online, suggesting that Gomez was sharing a story about her attempt to get a photo with Timothée Chalamet, only to be turned down by his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, who was also his date for the evening.

Selena Gomez speaks to Taylor Swift at Golden Globes

Setting the record straight on an E! News Instagram post dedicated to the rumor, Gomez responded with a straightforward comment. "Noooooo, I told Taylor about two of my friends who hooked up," she clarified. "Not that that's anyone's business."

Moreover, a source reportedly informed PEOPLE that Gomez's conversation had nothing to do with Timothée Chalamet or Kylie Jenner. The Only Murders in the Building star purportedly "never even saw or spoke to" the couple during the event.

Despite the swirling rumors, Gomez's focus at the 81st annual Golden Globes was her nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series — Musical or Comedy, recognizing her role in Only Murders in the Building. Unfortunately, she did not secure the win, as the award went to Ayo Edebiri, star of The Bear.

Swift, accompanied by Keleigh Teller (wife of Miles Teller), received a nomination in the newly created category of Cinematic and Box Office Achievement for her concert film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. However, the award ultimately went to Barbie.

In the aftermath of the awards show, it's clear that Gomez's conversation with Swift and Teller was unrelated to the rumored Chalamet-Jenner incident, dispelling any misinterpretations that may have circulated online.
