Selena Gomez Takes a Social Media Hiatus to Prioritize the Important Things

Selena Gomez is hitting pause on social media, and she's got her sights set on what truly matters. In an Instagram Story posted on Tuesday, the 31-year-old singer and actress shared a playful video of her record producer boyfriend, Benny Blanco, enjoying a moment with two young children.

Making her intentions clear, Gomez declared, "I'm off social media for a while."

This isn't the first time the Wizards of Waverly Place alum has taken a step back from the digital world. In October, she disclosed her decision to distance herself from social platforms, expressing, "My heart breaks to see all the horror, hate, violence, and terror that's going on in the world."

Speaking passionately about her reasons, Gomez emphasized, "People being tortured and killed or any act of hate towards any one group is horrific." She firmly asserted that the protection of "ALL people," especially children, is crucial, and she advocated for putting an end to violence permanently.

"I'm sorry if my words will never be enough for everyone or a hashtag," Gomez continued. "I just can't stand by innocent people getting hurt. That's what makes me sick. I wish I could change the world. But a post won't."

Gomez's latest announcement of a social media break follows a heartfelt Instagram post showcasing a romantic kiss with Benny Blanco at the 2024 Golden Globes. The photo captured a tender moment as Gomez, dressed in a stunning red and black Giorgio Armani dress with a matching black jacket, held Blanco's neck.

Captioning the photo with a touch of humor, she declared, "I won," as the two shared an embrace during the awards ceremony.

According to a source close to Gomez, she is "super happy and present" in her newfound romance. The insider revealed on January 5 that Gomez is exuding confidence and self-assurance, attributing it to her personal and professional growth. Whether it's Benny's influence or a reflection of Gomez's current state, she appears to be in a positive space.

Gomez and Blanco officially confirmed their relationship in December 2023, marking a new chapter in the singer's personal life. As she takes this break from social media, it seems she's redirecting her focus towards the meaningful aspects of life and love, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing genuine connections over digital distractions.
