Ryan Gosling's Hilarious Reaction to 'I'm Just Ken' Winning 2024 Critics Choice Award Takes the Internet by Storm
At the 2024
Critics' Choice Awards, Ryan Gosling injected some deadpan humor into the
evening as his Barbie movie anthem, "I'm Just Ken," clinched the
title for Best Song. The 43-year-old actor's seemingly stunned expression at
the announcement has become a viral sensation, captivating the online
community.
Bella
Ramsey and Anthony Ramos, the presenters of the evening, declared the power
ballad as the winner, prompting Gosling to raise his eyebrows in apparent
disbelief. In a playful gesture, he stood up and shook his head while
applauding the song's writers, Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, who took the stage
to accept the accolade.
During
their acceptance speech, Ronson, 48, gave a nod to Gosling, addressing him
directly, "Ryan Gosling, this is as much your award as ours. You made the
audience fall in love with this song with your matchless performance, so thank
you."
Gosling,
along with director Greta Gerwig and co-writer Noah Baumbach, as well as Barbie
actress and co-producer Margot Robbie, received heartfelt thanks from Ronson.
He acknowledged Gerwig's role in carving out 11 minutes for the prog-rock,
power-ballad, dream-ballet, shred fest, expressing gratitude for allowing
audiences to experience a unique emotional journey.
The Best
Song category featured competition from two other tracks on the Barbie
soundtrack: Dua Lipa's "Dance the Night" and Billie Eilish's
"What Was I Made For?" Additionally, the category included nominees
such as Jack Black's rendition of "Peaches" from The Super Mario
Bros. Movie, Lenny Kravitz's "Road to Freedom" from Rustin, and Julia
Michaels' "This Wish" from Disney's Wish.
Barbie, the
movie featuring Ryan Gosling as Ken, celebrated a triumphant night, securing
five additional awards, including Best Comedy, Best Original Screenplay, Best
Production Design, Best Costume, and Best Hair and Makeup. The film earned an
impressive total of 18 nominations at the ceremony held at The Barker Hanger in
Los Angeles.
Margot
Robbie, who also graced the awards show, flaunted a custom red off-the-shoulder
Balmain gown, complemented by around 100 carats of Lorraine Schwartz diamonds.
The 33-year-old Australian star received a nomination for Best Actress, adding
to the movie's stellar presence at the prestigious event.
