Amy Poehler's TikTok Serenade: A Beatles Surprise to Bid Adieu to 2023

In a delightful twist to bid farewell to 2023, Amy Poehler, the renowned comedian, took to TikTok surprising fans with a heartfelt rendition of the Beatles hit "Yesterday." The unexpected musical treat featured Poehler, donned in black-rimmed glasses and a festive green sweater, showcasing her musical side with piano accompaniment from a fellow TikTok user.

With the caption, "Favorite melancholy song for favorite melancholy week," Poehler set the stage for her soothing performance of the classic Paul McCartney composition. The unexpected musical talent displayed in the video sparked surprise among viewers, prompting comments praising her vocal abilities. Poehler, in her characteristic humor, playfully turned the compliments into self-deprecating jokes, questioning if she sounded "too cringe."

Amid the banter, one user expressed their admiration with a comment, to which the Parks and Recreation star humorously replied, "Will prob delete," adding a touch of her signature humor to the exchange.

On the same day, Poehler shared another video expressing gratitude to content creators and her followers on the TikTok platform. Walking outside, she conveyed heartfelt appreciation, acknowledging the role her followers played in getting her through the past couple of years. Poehler revealed her attempt to be "vulnerable and grateful in real-time," emphasizing the depth of the content she encountered on the platform.

"I have seen so much deeply funny, thought-provoking and sensitive, vulnerable stuff here," Poehler shared before reflecting on the challenge of not hiding behind a facade of being cool and funny. The comedian, known for her wit, urged authenticity, stating, "If you want people to know you, you have to show them who you are."

In a parting message, the 52-year-old extended warm wishes for a positive end to 2023, encouraging her followers to collectively "end this year right."

This year marked a venture into new creative territory for Poehler as she released and starred in the scripted podcast "Say More with Dr? Sheila," alongside her friend Liz Cackowski. Poehler assumed the role of Dr? Sheila, a fictional couples therapist and life coach dispensing comically terrible advice. The series featured improv comedy with Poehler collaborating with friends like Maya Rudolph, Tina Fey, and Ike Barinholtz, who guest-starred as patients seeking therapy.

Reflecting on the experience, Poehler, in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE in September, humorously acknowledged that despite her role as Dr? Sheila, she is far from being a licensed therapist. The podcast provided an avenue for Poehler to engage in comedic improvisation with her talented circle of friends, offering a unique and entertaining experience for listeners.

In a separate engagement, Poehler made an appearance on "Late Night with Seth Meyers" in December, adding another layer to her diverse and dynamic presence in the entertainment landscape.

As the year drew to a close, Poehler's TikTok serenade and heartfelt messages showcased a different facet of the beloved comedian, leaving fans both entertained and appreciative. With her unique blend of humor and authenticity, Amy Poehler continues to captivate audiences across various platforms, proving once again why she remains a beloved figure in the world of entertainment.
